Though it's been stereotypically grey and wet English weather all this week, for a week or there was some nice autumnal weather. In one Japanese lesson, my Japanese teacher was talking about leaves changing, and asked the class whether the leaves went yellow or red on trees in England. Considering there was a massive bright red, autumnal tree outside the window one of my fellow students answered that they went red and also yellow. My teacher smiled and said, "No, in Japan they go red, but in England, they only go yellow". Very surreal. Anyway, here are a few shots from around SOAS this autumn.

Yesterday, I picked up a brand new secondhand Canonet from Mac's Cameras. While it's not the ubiquitous QL17 (which I still want to pick up), it is a nice little introduction into Rangefinders. I think that when taking the first shots, I probably shouldn't have used a film that was 3 years past the use-by date. The shots came back really grainy, though I'm not sure if that's the film (it was a 200 ISO), or the camera or me or what? Next time I'm going to try with a slightly better film.

A few weeks back, Eri bought herself a Diana. We went out one day in December in Roppongi and Shinjuku and got these shots. Like most toy cameras I've used, the instructions for the Diana really stress the possibility of light leaks and other wierdness, but this is the first time I have really seem them as noticeably. I quite like them. I'm not sure what happened to the one of my face all chopped up. Maybe the camera couldn't handle it or something and just gave up. Click to see them all.
A photo I took of my girlfriend at the local zoo a few weeks back. I got them back from the developers yesterday and this was the only shot out of 24 that was worth anything. Some of the others were so shit that they made me wonder if I had actually meant to take the picture or if my finger had pushed the shutter by accident or something. Normally paying 2000円 (£10) for one decent shot would quite annoy me, but I really like this one so I think for once it's worth it. Taken with my Lomo and cross-processed.
